I can’t count how many times I have ridden by road bike on dark paths. But I’ve had my fair share of the worst that could possibly happen to any cyclist who cruise dark trails without headlights.

And I can tell you from experience that there’s nothing worse than riding on a dusky terrain. You can’t see where you’re going. Other road users may not spot you easily. And that means you’re susceptible to danger.

The best thing to do, really, is to buy the best bike lights. After all, you’re too good a bike rider. And you already know that illuminating your path isn’t a choice, it’s necessary. But which bike light should you choose? Check out the following recommendations.

Best Bicycle Lights Reviews – We Picked Top Led Bike Lights For The Money

Vont ‘Breeze’ Bike Light Set

Vont essentially understands that safety is that one element that should never be compromised when you’re out to enjoy biking at night—hence, the birth of the Breeze Bike Light.

If you’re looking for that ever reliable bike lighting partner for those night rides on the road, in the woods, or the mountains maybe, then you will never go wrong with the Breeze Bike Light.

Thanks to cutting-edge vLED technology, the Breeze Bike Light comes power packed with 250 lumens of brightness that can illuminate the entire road, track, or trail ahead and focus on an object at around 1,000 feet away—that’s like 10 times brighter than other bike lights in the market.

Its equally powerful premium 1200mAh rechargeable lithium battery packs up no less than 90 hours of illumination that is proprietarily designed to outlast even harsh weather conditions like heavy rains and storms, and maybe even a zombie apocalypse.

Exclusively constructed with military-grade materials, the Breeze Bike Light set boasts of versatility and uncompromised durability that it can survive extreme weather and pressure conditions like a 10-foot drop or being used under the rain, snow, or hailstorm.

Compact, robust, and reliable, the Breeze has been reviewed, endorsed, and trusted by cycling professionals and magazines.

  • Ultra bright bike light set
  • Lightweight but solid and compact
  • Installs and (uninstalls) in a snap
  • Premium 1200mAh lithium battery
  • Rechargeable batteries
  • USB port compatible charging
  • Lifetime quality guarantee
  • Water and dust resistant

  • Rear light not rechargeable

AUOPLUS Rechargeable Bike Bike Headlight and Taillight Set

AUOPLUS is all about road awareness, a set of first-class bike lights that work exactly as advertised. The front light is a versatile pick, able to fit on most handlebars provided their diameter doesn’t exceed 28mm.

The backlight fits very well, too. At the very least, you have two powerful lights, which let you see the road ahead of you clearly and be seen by anyone behind you.

Made of sturdy metal casting around, the AUOPLUS bike lights set is good enough to last for months. The IPX4 rating means its waterproofing is promising, able to withstand moist and rainy weather and work just fine.

Lightweight and easy to install, this set should take you about a minute to fix it on your bike.

AUOPLUS bike lights are versatile at best. At the very least, they can fit securely on mountain bikesroad bikes, and street bikes.

The rechargeable battery has a reasonable runtime, so you can cycle in the dark for an extended period and reach your destination safely. It takes an hour to charge the back light and a maximum of 4 hours for the front one. Plus, the set has an indicator that you can use to monitor battery’s status.

If you had rather not leave the lights on the bike after a night ride, you can simply unmounts them from the holder with a quick release press. The same case applies when the batteries need recharge.

  • The set has 5, easy-to-adjust brightness levels
  • It’s simple to install and easy to use
  • It’s cheap, a good option for someone on a budget

  • Low battery runtime when set to the brightest light mode

Cycle Torch Shark 500 Bike Light

I can’t stress enough just how hazardous roads can get at night. And riding a bike without light, especially on extremely dark paths, simply means you’re putting your life on the line. Cycle Torch Shark 500 comes in handy as a safe tool and a lifesaver.

This bike light lets you see danger ahead of time, long before they can become problematic. You see and get seen, and you can get to your destination without subjecting yourself to any kind of injury.

You get a front and rear light, plus elastic bands, for the price. With their high level of water resistance, the set can stand a downpour of any kind. And the USB rechargeable functionality lets you power the battery with ease.

The plastic shell takes after the shape of a shark. The shield extends a bit to the front of the light, cutting off the beam and making it less glaring above and below.

On paper, Cycle Torch can put out 500 lumens. But, seriously speaking, it doesn’t get to this mark. It’s around 420 lumens on the max setting, which is still good enough for most users.

How long the rechargeable battery lasts depends on the light mode you choose. You get 1,800 minutes runtime on a single charge in Flash mode but only 90 minutes on high mode. The medium mode, which gives you 250 lumens, has a runtime of 180 minutes. And you get about 900 minutes on 50 lumens.

  • Easy to set up and simple to use
  • An inexpensive product with superior performance
  • Good for short and long trips

  • Doesn’t really put out 500 lumens, just 420
  • Poor visibility due to the extended plastic shield

BLITZU Gator 390 Bike Light

BLITZU Gator 390 Bike Light appeals to hundreds of riders for a reason. Not only is it a quality build, but also it’s an option that works in daylight and nighttime. With BLITZU Gator 390, you’re visible all the time.

Whether it’s raining during the day or you’re riding on dark trails, you can clearly see the road ahead of you and drivers and cyclists behind can see you as well.

BLITZU Gator looks sleek. Beyond the aesthetic, the build is solid and durable. Plus, the setup is versatile, able to fit handlebars of any bike type. The mounting square is easy to tilt, but only up or down. The headlight slides in smoothly in the mounting square and then holds securely in position.

Built to last, optimized for performance, and well secured against extreme weather conditions, this bike lock lets you see clearly no matter the time of the day. Hats off to the 360-degree illumination, for it lets you ride through deeply dark trails that would be otherwise difficult for your eyes to penetrate.

Standing at 390 lumens, BLITZU Gator’s illumination is, of course, not the best we’ve seen so far. But it’s fair for the price. Its visibility range is 390 feet, not the longest coverage, but perfect enough for its purpose.

  • Has four easy-to-adjust light modes
  • It has an IPX5 rating, so you can use it even if it’s raining
  • Takes less than a minute to setup
  • The 360-degree illumination lets you see your path clearly
  • Takes only 2 hours to recharge

  • The battery life is terrible, just 2 hours

Cycle Torch Night Owl

Lightweight and bright, simple to install and use, and easy to charge when the battery runs low, Cycle Torch Night Owl is one of the best bike lights for the money. It’s made of ABS nylon plastic. And at 70 grams, this night owl is one of the most lightweight options in this guide.

For the price, you get an additional MicroBot rear light, so your bike will be visible from behind and the front. In addition, you get two rubber straps, two high-speed USB charging cables, and a strong plastic mount for the taillight.

Going up to just 200 feet, the effective beam distance of this bike light isn’t anything close to what Te-Rich offers. Still, the 60 meters is quite something, because it makes it easy for other road users to spot you from a distance.

Offering only 200 lumens, the Cycle Torch Night Owl isn’t the brightest option we’ve seen, but given the beam distance it supports, the illumination is quite effective.

  • This bike light has a long battery life
  • It works well during the day and night
  • Easy to install; will fit all bike types

  • It takes a long time to charge

Cygolite Hotshot Pro Tail Light

Whether you like to ride in dusk or dawn or you simply need a bike light that can get you to your destination on a chilly, rainy weather, try Cygolite Hotshot Pro. I wish there were a headlight included in the package. But for the price, this should serve its purpose just fine.

Apparently, Hot Shot Pro is a 150-lumen light. That’s obviously low compared to what you get from other rear bike lights. But the small red light it emits is still clear enough for cyclists, motorists, and drivers behind to see you.

This isn’t just a light to use far away from the busy city. You can even use it in a crowded environment and high traffic urban. It will get you noticed. And other road users will be careful enough to keep you safe. Hotshot Pro has 6 light modes, all good for riding during the day and nighttime.

Seriously speaking, Cygolite Hotshot Pro has the best battery runtime ever for a taillight, clocking up 210 hours on a single charge. The steady, random flash, zoom, day lighting, steady pulse, and triple flash modes makes it easy for other road users to notice you, hence enhanced safety, especially at night.

  • Has the best battery runtime ever for a taillight
  • Built to last and it’s a waterproof light
  • Easy to mount and use
  • Cheap yet well optimized for performance

  • Offering only 150 lumens, this may not be bright enough for some people

BCXYMQ USB Rechargeable Head & Tail Light Set

BCXYMQ isn’t a product you hear about often. While not nearly as popular as Te-Ride and Cycle Torch Shark 500, this light set is one of the brightest picks money can buy. Both the head and taillight are bright enough to illuminate your path so you and other road users can see each other clearly.

Inexpensive yet well built, with a promising 360-degree visibility, the BCXYMQ rechargeable light set can brighten up all around you, so you can ride your bike without worrying about your safety and that of others. If anything, BCXYMQ is all about keeping you and other people safe.

BCXYMQ’s bracket, a lightweight headlight holder that fits handlebars of up to 1.25 inches in diameter, is strong, stays tight in position once fixed, and unmounts with ease. The bracket has a quick disconnection system, which easily releases the headlight from the mount each time you want to remove it from the handlebar for other uses.

You get 4 light modes from BCXYMQ light set. These are high, low, SOS, and flashing. Keep in mind that how long the rechargeable battery lasts will depend on the mode you choose, with the high mode having less battery runtime on a single charge.

  • The IPX4 rating means this set is water resistant, able to stand against rain and splashing water
  • The 360-degree rotation makes it easy for you to see all around you
  • Battery can last for up to 10 hours in low light mode

  • Low battery life on high light mode

Rafada Super Bright Headlamp & Back Lights

Bright enough to light even the darkest paths far away from a well-lit urban, Rafada Bike Lights are an ideal choice for anyone who loves to ride bikes. The build is up to standard, it has a long battery life, and it even comes with a strong mounting system for easy installation.

A good reason to love Rafada bicycle light is that it’s all about safety first. In fact, it makes riding your bike safe and fun, because it’s all about seeing ahead without blinding motorists, pedestrians, drivers, and other bike riders. And the best part is? It works well on any weather condition and you can use it even during the day.

Delivering only 700 lumens, Rafada isn’t as bright as headlights like Te-Rich. But the illumination is still bright enough, so drivers and motorists can easily spot you from a distant. The taillight is also bright, so anyone behind you can see you riding and drive or ride past you with ease.

Rafada has an IP65 waterproof rating, so it’s safe for riding in the rain. And if the downpour gets a bit heavy, don’t worry. This set is resilient enough to withstand any kind of rain. Plus, it’s easy to charge. Simply use a USB charging system to juice up the battery,

  • It’s bright enough to keep you safe
  • Easy to charge when the battery runs low
  • Takes only two and a half hours to charge

  • The battery life could be better on some light mods
  • It doesn’t have a 360-degree tilt

Wastou Bike Lights

Wastou is one of the most versatile lights yet. First, it fits any bike with a handlebar whose diameter is between 17 and 44mm. Second, not only does it work as a bike light, it’s also removable from the handlebar so you can use it for running, walking, hiking, backpacking, nighttime activities, and as an emergency light.

Wastou is made of raw aluminum. And it’s water resistant. What you get for the price is a high quality, durable product that will work well long-term without succumbing to elements. It promises 1200 lumens and delivers just that in turbo mode. With such an intensity, your safety on road, especially in areas with complete darkness, is sure.

I must admit that the automatic sensor control is the best technology I’ve seen in a bike light. Wastou automatically turns on whenever it detects darkness and off in the presence of light. There’s no power button to push, switching on and off is unnecessary. The convenience is undeniable.

The aluminum body doesn’t just have an IPX6 rating. It’s also shockproof, able to work well even in the heaviest rain imaginable. You do get 6 light modes from this one, and you can switch from one to the other with just a push of a button.

  • Wastou is a bright light with a visibility range of 300 feet
  • Easy to recharge once the 1200mAh battery runs low
  • The 6 different light modes enhance rider’s safety on different trails

  • The battery life could use some upgrade
  • The headlight releasing mechanism could use some improvements as well

WAKYME Bike Light Set

WAKYME bike light set lets you see drivers, motorists, and other bike riders in front of you without hurting them. And the people behind will see you and drive past you with ease.

With WAKYME set attached on your handlebar and seat post, you never have to worry about night accidents, just a safe ride home even in deep darkness.

WAKYME all-around visibility is by far the set’s top feature. The 360-degree visibility is simply unmatched. Not only does this allow you to see the area around you clearly but also it makes it easy for drivers, motorist, and pedestrians to notice you with ease.

It also has a backlight, which is valuable addition that ensures that anyone behind your bike can spot you with ease.

The set’s 5 headlight modes let you adjust brightness level depending on the path you’re riding on. These are low, medium, high, SOS, and flashing mode. The taillight has 3 modes: steady, smooth flashing, and quick flashing. Switching between modes is as easy as pressing a button.

The LED light indicator at the top of the headlight fills you in on the battery level. It lets you know when the 2pcs 18650 rechargeable lithium batteries run low and when it’s full during charging. On full charge, the display will show 99 instead of 100%. I have no idea why this is so, but it isn’t something that should even bother you in the first place.

  • It’s a versatile bike light. You can use it for hiking, camping, night backpacking, or as an emergency light
  • A good option for all kind of bikes
  • Strong and stable, stays in position once installed

  • A little pricier than some options here

Te-Rich Road & Mountain Bike Headlight

With Te-Rich Headlight, a tunnel vision is simply nonexistent. The brilliant 1,200-lumen white light it emits lets you see clearly, even on paths that are somewhat darker than usual.

You can’t really adjust the beam of the 4 Cree XM-L2 LEDs, but that’s nothing to worry about because the light isn’t at all blinding.

Te-Rich headlight features an aircraft grade aluminum build with a shock and waterproof rating. It’s compact and lightweight. And it’s brighter than some headlights in the same price range.

The package also includes an easy-to-mount secure bracket, which attaches really well to mountain bike and road bike handlebars of diameters between 10 and 35mm.

Te-Rich’s beam intensity is always constant regardless of the battery level. You get 4 unique lighting modes and whichever you activate will consume the battery differently. The runtime is 4 hours on high mode, 8 hours on medium light, and 12 hours on the strobe light mode.

Its effective visibility range is 980 feet. This is the best I’ve seen so far. And quite frankly, it makes you easily visible, especially in low light conditions. The taillight adds to your road safety, allowing riders and drivers behind to see you with ease. This one has three light modes: steady beam, flash, and strobe.

One of Te-Rich’s most important feature is the overheating protection circuitry. This is handy especially when using the headlight in turbo mode. It lowers the intensity of the beam and cools off the headlight with ease.

  • You get a headband and taillight for free
  • A long battery life of up to 12 hours in strobe light mode
  • Easy to install and use
  • 1,200 lumens means bright white light

  • You can’t charge the taillight

As you can see, the best bike lights aren’t expensive. And they are quite effective. Whether you love riding at dawn and dusk, or you commute daily in the busy streets, or you other road users to see you when it’s chilly and misty, invest in any of these bike lights.
